Recommended hardware for the eRecordStudio App
for better sound quality using a direct audio interface connection with your smartphone

The ERS R&D team will always work hard to find the latest and greatest hardware at the most affordable price for our growing ERS community. As you can see in the picture above, we have tested over 2 dozen different audio interface products from different manufacturers and below are the most affordable options available for the Smartphone App. These are amazon listed products and ERS does not receive any sales commission.
If you come across any other options we have yet to discover, please email admin@erecordstudio.com, send us the link to a new audio interface and let us know. We will test it and if it works, we will add it to our list below and thank you for your awesomeness and contribution to our ERS Community.
We highly recommend investing in an audio interface for high quality recording for using the eRecordStudio platform on both the App and Website. However, if you don't want to make the investment just yet, you can use plug-in type earplugs or headphones that have an attached microphone to get decent quality recordings although if you are collaborating with other musicians, you may get drowned out if they are using audio interfaces.
We do not recommend using Bluetooth headphones, which can cause a lag in your recordings and they mostly do not record instruments well. Although some might be sufficient for solo or "ERS Single Session" recordings, you might experience a lag or timing delays when recording with other members.
These audio interfaces below allow you to monitor (hear) as you record. We have found many SMARTPHONE audio interface products do not provide this capability.
If you do not use any earplugs or an audio interface at all, your mp3 backing track that you uploaded will play through the speakers while you are recording. Therefore, if you are singing, it will provide a Karaoke type of effect, if you can balance the recording and playback volume levels properly. Karaoke is something worth trying and if you don't like the performance, you can always not save it or you can easily delete it once it has posted to the feeds.
Pricing below is subject to change on Amazon, but these prices were noted on 5/1/2025.

Below are 2 Laptop/Desktop audio interfaces to use with eRecordStudio:
Unlike smartphone audio interfaces, most Laptop/Desktop audio interfaces provide the audio monitoring playback capability and will likely work with eRecordStudio. There are many lower cost and less reputable manufacturer options available on both the new and used marketplace like www.Reverb.com and www.eBay.com .Â
